Description
Instrumental arrangement of one of the tunes used for the Christmas carol
“While shepherds watched their flocks by night”, as found in Este’s Psalter.
The variations become more florid and there is much use of flutter tonging on flute and clarinet, to emphasise the chill in the air
and the fear of the shepherds when they see the angel.
Each instrument has a go at the tune and one of the variations goes into a minor mode
