Clarinet quartet (3 B flat clarinets and 1 bass clarinet) based on the Afro American Spiritual “We are climbing Jacob’s ladder”.
The striving of the original spiritual becomes more of a dream of the ladder itself
on which the angels come down and go back up to Heaven.
