Bergamasca Variations – cello and guitar

Category:

Description

The “bergamasca” was a lusty 16th-century dance depicting the allegedly awkward manners of the inhabitants of Bergamo, in northern Italy, where the dance supposedly originated.
These variations are my original cello and guitar version, which was based on one of the original bergamasca tunes.

The video is a live (but rather rough) recording by the composer on guitar with the late Chris Benson on cello, performed just after it was composed.
