Arrangement of John Dowland’s lute song “I saw my lady weep”.
In the first verse the Violin 1 takes the vocal line while the cello takes the bass line
and the 2nd violin and viola complete the harmony of the original lute part
In the second verse the viola takes the vocal line, the cello continues to take the bass line
and the violins move round to complete the harmonies.
Versions are available for string quartet, various wind quartets and brass quartet.
