Nocturne for cello and guitar

Description

In this piece the guitar is tuned with the third string down a semitone – ie the equivalent on guitar of the intervals between lute strings. This allows for certain harmonic effects between strings which would otherwise not be available on the instrument.

The cello follows the harmony in a relaxed and sleepy way.

It is performed here by Chris Benson on cello and the composer on guitar, recorded in 1975.
