Professor Burble’s 4th Invention – piano, strings, percussion

Description

A “mad professor” I invented during my childhood has been given fictional responsibility
for some of my more “outside the box” compositions.
I called him Professor Burble; he was probably inspired by TV cartoons in the 1960s….
The first “Invention” was for guitar solo (published by Productions d’Oz),
the third one one was for two wind instruments (published by Musik Fabrik),
and this one – number 4 – is for piano, strings, gong, cymbal, bass drum and side drum.

It is in a relentless 5/4 rhythm and starts with a fugato idea on piano and strings (including several divisi moments),
with gongs, cymbal and snare drums beginning about a minute into the piece.
