Inspired by a photo of grass growing through the volcanic ash in Iceland.
The piece was originally conceived as a 60s style folk vocal duet on this poem by Mark Haviland:
“The grass is growing in the field of ash
Come look come see
with the passing of each day
the green grows stronger than the grey”
