Quartet version of my “Unbekanntes Volkslied” (unknown folk song)
This was originally written for Cornelia Mayer and her Monopol Quartet (Viennese zither, guitar, violin and double bass), but they broke up just too soon. I recreated a version for her new ensemble – guitar and Viennese zither – which is also available on this site and – I understand – will be performed soon.
In both cases (quartet version and duet version) I have made versions for zither in Viennese tuning and zither in the more common Munich tuning.
The “folk song” itself is my own creation based on hearing many Viennese folksongs.
