Description
This set of variations is based on a South African independence song in the Sotho language
Ke Arona
Rona mahata mho
Ba boyi ba che che
Ba che che Le mora
(Power to the people
The enemy is on the run)
The images reflect landscapes in Tanzania, Lesotho and South Africa which varied in friendliness and assistance to those who sought, and eventually achieved, justice. These places hold the memory of people who travelled with hope, fear and determination, crossing borders in search of safety and fairness. In each landscape, the struggle for justice left its own imprint — moments of refuge, moments of hardship, and moments of quiet courage. The journey through these regions became part of a larger human story: the long walk from vulnerability and enslavement toward recognition, dignity and the right to stand up as free people.
