Kichijiro (inspired by the novel “Silence” by Shusaku Endo) – cello and guitar

Category:

Description

Kichijiro is the equivalent of Judas
in the novel “Silence” ( 沈黙 (Chinmoku)) by Shusaku Endo.
The thoughts of Kichijiro are reflected in the music
especially in the Japanese pentatonic equivalent of the
old carol “Oh come all ye faithful”
which is repeated in a somewhat wistful and yet sardonic way
by the guitar and the cello
It also reflects Endo’s own views on
Christianity, which he never felt comfortable with.
